The Monastery of Saint Anthony, founded in the 4th century, is one of the oldest monasteries in the world, located in the Red Sea mountains. It serves as a significant pilgrimage site, preserving the legacy of Saint Anthony, the father of monasticism. The Monastery of Saint Paul, also known as the Monastery of the Tigers, is situated nearby and dates back to the 5th century. It was established in honor of Saint Paul of Thebes, considered the first Christian hermit. Both monasteries feature ancient churches, libraries, and living quarters that offer insights into early Christian monastic life.
"Our guide will pick you up from your hotel around 4:30 AM, depending on the location of your hotel. Then you will head to the Monastery of Saint Anthony, which is located about 300 kilometers north of Hurghada.
On arrival, you will go up by stairs to the Cave of Saint Anthony, which is located about 670 meters above sea level. The cave houses a small chapel dedicated to Saint Anthony, where monks and visitors can pray.
Then around 8:00 AM, you will visit the Monastery of Saint Anthony. The tour inside the monastery is guided by one of the monks who live there.
The next stop will be the Monastery of Saint Paul, which is located 100 kilometers from the first one, on the way back to Hurghada. The visit takes about one hour and is also guided by one of the monks living there.
By the end of the tour, you will head back to Hurghada, arriving at your hotel around 4:30 PM."
